Misty's Diner

Our last night in Melbourne we braved the cold to visit an old favorite of K's, Misty's Diner. An American style restaurant, Misty's is decked out in 1960s memorabilia including pictures of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, neon route 66 signs, American candies, products and a jukebox.

For a Wednesday night, I was surprised to find Misty's so busy. Dispite the amount of people, we were greeted by Misty herself and promptly seated (in the warmer area as well, yay!). There were so many choices on the menu, it was hard to decide.

First to come out, our bucket of pork ribs with added buffalo wings! ($32.90+$4 for the wings). Served in a big bud light bucket, the chicken wings were crisp and moist on the inside. The wings came with a side of celery sticks and bleu cheese dip, we also got the hot sauce on the side!

The ribs we had were alright, they were a little cold by the time I got to them and there was a lot of cartilage on them. The dry rub marinade was nice but the meat didn't seem like it was cooked enough, I did get a small end of it that wasnt cooked. I like it when the meat is cooked til it falls off the bone or at least comes off cleanly. All in all not the greatest ribs we've had before.

We also got the half serve of gourmet fries to go with the ribs and they were the bests fries we've had... ever! So nice and crispy on the outside with a soft fluffy centre, they also have a great seasoning.

Next, we had the 24hr pulled pork roll ($19.90). A French roll filled with BBQ pulled pork, smokey BBQ sauce, red onions, American pickles and skinny fries.

After the gourmet fries the shoe string fries just did not compare. Good but not as good! The first bite of the pulled pork sandwich was fantastic, the BBQ pork flavor was so rich and the meat very tasty. The taste was a little too much to chow down the whole roll so we definitely needed to have the chips and pickles to break up to flavour hit.

Just as a little dessert we ordered a brownie thickshake ($7). It was very sweet and oh so chocolately! Delicious!
